“Sweden needs to maintain a high level of wind power deployment”

Growth rates of wind power in Europe are stable and not increasing. Sweden needs to maintain its highest level of wind power deployment according to national scenarios. Those are two conclusions from the latest webinar by Mistra Electrification.

30 May, Mistra Electrification arranged the stakeholder webinar “Accelerating the growth of wind power under the pressure of energy security”. Jessica Jewell, Associate Professor in Energy Transitions at Chalmers University, showed how wind power has grown historically in Europe and different countries.

– Growth rates of wind power in Europe are stable, and not increasing. Sweden needs to maintain its highest level of wind power deployment according to national scenarios, said Jessica Jewell.

Various policies in Sweden and other European countries are now being considered to reduce barriers to faster deployment. Jessica Jewell invited stakeholders for discussion about these policies.

– What policies should Sweden adopt to reduce barriers? We want to understand policy options and are open for collaboration with different stakeholders, said Jessica Jewell.
